El Matador

This place did not thrill me. My grandmother’s funeral was this morning and many of us decided to come here after. I will say that there were a lot of us, probably upwards of 15. As a hostess and server, I understand how stressful it can be when a party of that size comes in, but family had called ahead to let them know we were coming. The woman who greeted us at the door assured us that she had no idea what we were talking about, they don’t take reservations, etc and then let us know that we were going to have to be split up, which I think we could’ve been fine with, but she was rude, impatient, and demanding about it. It felt like she was trying to herd us to separate parts of the restaurant and everyone was rushed to decide who they were going to sit with. After I was seated, a few more family members trickled in and she was very condescending, something about social distancing, and after some arguing, my aunt had to tell the woman that we had just buried her mother and can she just go away and the woman replied that no, she was gonna sit RIGHT there. Eventually, she still left. Our first 15 minutes here did not set us up well for the food quality, which was mediocre. Way too much cheese (I love cheese, but this was way too much) on anything my cousins and I got and the jumbo fried shrimp are certainly big, but I was disappointed that they are 90% breading. Few good vegetarian/pescatarian options. Our server was nice and I could tell she was busy, but she was definitely kinder when it came to social distancing requests and that kind of thing. That first woman, however, was awful and I can’t imagine how anyone would enjoy eating at this restaurant being treated like that and lacking good enough food to make up for it

My wife and I thought the food and service was wonderful and the servers were very nice and courteous. We are from Bullhead City Arizona ( home of the 130° summer heat 🔥) and there are not any Mexican restaurants that the food tastes great as it did here at El Matador. Sure wish they had this restaurant where we live & We love that salsa. Sure wish you can do airdrops to our house 😁

The food is always great, but if you want the best service ask to be seated in David’s section! Quick service and very helpful. He made our experience so great and we will definitely be back asking for David!

El Matador has been a favorite for years! Their enchilada sauce is the BEST anywhere! Their chicken burrito is stuffed with white meat...be sure to get it "enchilada style" so it's smothered in their yummy sauce! Other favorites are their jumbo shrimp, taco salad, sopapillas (deep fried scones), specialty drinks, & you can get cheese in their salsa with the chips they bring when you are first seated. 😊 👍

What a wonderful experience! Best Mexican food around. The atmosphere if quaint and inviting. Love going there
