I called to obtain information regarding the builder or previous owners of my duplex built in 1972 -- with the ultimate goal of obtaining original blueprints for my architect. Online records only listed owners as far back as 1998 and no builder or developer. The woman who assisted me was a good listener. She was not optimistic about finding anything (had not seen such information previously), but she told me that she was looking at various data bases. She sent an email to colleagues to see if they might help, but then decided that the building inspection department might provide information. She gave me Building Inspection Department's number and transferred my call with the instructions to ask to be transferred back if Building Inspection didn't think that they could help. I didn't get the information I needed, but it was a most pleasant interaction. I wish I had gotten her name so I could send kudos to her specifically.
