My honest review. Great school to learn and participate extracurricular activities in. You get a decent laptop to use in school, but I suggest use your own laptop/computer at home. The courses and activities are generally organized with a lot of leadership positions to be involved in. Staff and students are friendly, if you are respectable of course. People who wrote bad reviews are not the best students and do not like doing work. If you want to thrive in a challenging environment (yes there will be a lot of work but it is worth it at the end), with chances to be involved in insightful class discussions, leadership, and learn a lot in a modern school, then MOT High is the place. Disregard the bad reviews because they only talk about having bad experiences with teachers and parts of the school they didn't like. EVERY school has its negative points, but its all about individual attitude and the environment. The environment at MOT High is great, as it is an open school with friendly people. So, if the student is a hard worker and enjoys learning, then there is no reason to not love a modern school like this. Just keep in mind it is a relatively new school, so sport teams are improving, but teams that were admittedly bad, are now improved in student learning, as well as organization by the coaches.
Our son moved to Delaware from Australia and we were concerned about him settling into a high school environment. MOT teachers and staff were amazingly welcoming and adapted teaching and advisory sessions to meet his needs. Small class sizes. Great facilities. Challenging but caring environment. What more does one need in a public charter school. Highly recommended.
This is a place I call a hidden gem for academic protege. I remove my son from public school to a charter, which his father CREATED the PTO/PTA, they fail him. When he came to this school, every day he is happy to be there dispite the challenging academic work load. He started school in the middle of the marking period, yet he is happy to take on the back works without a complaint. In The morning, it is always a thrill for him to go to school, unlike before. Everything I desire for my son, this school have it in place. It is gear for engineering and arts major. I have full confident that my son will be ready for college when he graduate out of MOT. My one major desire was duel enrollment, which they have it in effect. The way how they deal with fights and bullying show so much promises. From what I heard, there has been ZEROES fights since they open, which was the same time his old school open, I can't say the same to his old school. I have heard from people to why their kids left to another school, because of the academic challenges. Any parent who want their kids to be fully prepare for college in Engineering major should invest the time to send them here. To top it off, the price for food is cheaper and my kid loves every menu, he use to starved before he left the other school, due to price and disgusting food they served.
I’ve been with Mot since 5th grade I’ve disliked it ever since. It’s a shame that more than half the school is forced to go here some people this school doesn’t help at all because this is not furfilling what people want to do. Yes, it may set us for college but the education is terrible. I learn nothing most of the teachers don’t teach. I could only say like two of them do. These computers are making us dumb we need more books. I’m a digital arts major and I’m not even interested in doing this later I just like the class. Right now I’m not learning anything the new teacher that replaced Ms.Michael is terrible I haven’t heard from his point of view or how things should be done. Ms.Michael was a blessing. The information that I’m learning now is pointless. I want to go somewhere like Middletown that has track. I want to furfil my dream. This school doesn’t have track which is sickning. I think we should the fact that we have a golf team and swimming team is sad because there’s no track team we can make a way. Don’t even dare say cross country and track are the same because they’re not I hate cross country did it for years because I’m good. I also believe that their needs to be more black teachers I see why Ms.Sosa left. There needs to be a black chef in the kitchen I’m sorry but lunch they serve is terrible it’s not up to par prison food is probably better. What they give us does not fill me up I have to take other peoples food to be full. I think the lunch should be based off our interest not the staff we’re the ones eating it. The fact that the teachers get mad when we eat in their class is ridiculous if the lunch people fed us better maybe we wouldn’t have to eat in class!!! There’s many reasons why I don’t get sleep and it’s because of this school I haven’t had a goodnight sleep in days. The amount of work this school gives me makes me want to really have a heart attack. Assignments after assignments like can we ever get a rest nope it’s Mot. They want us to fail I have so much on my plate. I want to leave the school. I’m so stressed we shouldn’t be we’re young. This school makes me want to drop out they’re effecting my learning. These teachers depend on the computers to teach us. Then they block google how am I going to learn now. Let’s go back to the days where teachers went thrift class talked about a lesson. Its rare don’t say the teachers do teach because that’s false only some. There needs to be many changes it doesn’t matter what anyone says there won’t be good things about this school that make people happy. I would nominate this school to be the worst in Delaware. And we’re supposed to be mighty mustangs how are we going to be if we don’t get any sleep with all this work. The key to energy is sleep. The rule about the earbuds I think is dumb it blocks out all attention for me it makes me focused. I just think there should be limits to it. We should be able to be engaged with music but if it or our phones interfears with our work then they can write us up. My high school experience is ruined. I recommend not coming here at all. The thing that I can probably say is that people here are nice and we don’t really bully as much and take fighting to a another level.
Very nice appearance, but distributed poorly.nnThis is a nicely built school, but lacking some effort in teachers/classes. Many important aspects in the curriculum are too rushed and jumbled as most teachers do not distribute it well as some are clearly not trained for that specific class, in addition, they will not help you. The time limits are not organized correctly and confusing, resulting in an overdue assignment, the WiFi is unreliable at most times, it is easy to get distracted with access with the internet, and many people mess around in class while teachers don't care.
