This YMCA is much larger than it looks from the outside. It also has way more parking than you think, but it doesn't excuse the fact that it's always crowded and still hard to find a parking spot during busy hours.nnThis location is super convenient because you can literally work out, grocery shop, stop at the drug store all within walking distance of each location. We were there during and after their renovation, and they did a GREAT job. Our one-year-old took swim classes here, and she never wanted to leave the pool. The swim instructor was so great, and I was super impressed because I don't remember my instructor being nearly as fun.nnThe only reason for three stars is because our daughter (then, only 2-years old) was continually scratched by an older child in their daycare location. All children baby through 12-ish were in one room which made me hesitate coming to this location because the giant age gap.nnEach time I asked what happened to my daughter, the workers never knew what was going on. After the second time, we switched back to the Bear-Glasgow location (much further from home) because the childcare was significantly better, larger, professional, and cleaner.
I love the high energy and kindness of the counselors!!!! My children enjoy all of the games and activities provided and the Camp gives them a sense of self pride, leadership and kindness. I love that my children have become better swimmers and have gained confidence in themselves with regard to athletics, trying new things, and making friends!!
I love the staff, they are amazing. I look forward to my daughter attending every summer, just as I did when my son was her age. My son is now working as a counselor himself, which just goes to show how much we really love the family atmosphere.
Staff are dedicated, energetic, fun, and the activities are great. I will send my child to this camp until he ages out. AND, let me say they did a great job during the COVID 19. Always felt like my child was safe.
The Western Family YMCA is one of the few places I trust with my children. There are small issues everywhere, but the staff and community work hard to make it a homey place to get and stay fit. The focus is on building community relationships, taking care of each other as we care for ourselves. Thank you, Y staff, for supporting me and my family in our goals all these years.
