It has been a wonderful experience raising my kids at Odyssey. The school has been supportive and has provided the structure that many children need in their lives. The admin team expanded this past year, and as a parent, I have noticed an improved difference for how communication and organization is handled. I have read critique about the teachers and have to say that the teachers which I've met up through middle school, are some of the best in terms of being knowledgeable and working with students and families. Some classes could be more consistent in terms of expectations (deadlines, grades, etc.) and some teachers could use a reminder that school is meant to teach students in ways that will have a greater impact on student lives than doing projects that don't relate to what should be taught or spending time becoming friends with students; students need more guidance, not more gossip and friends (especially in middle school). Despite these few concerns, I will gladly continue my children's education at OCS.

Odyssey is a great school with dedicated teachers and staff! However, there has been so much that has happened in the last year that cannot be ignored. Two administrators were hired to replace Nick Manolakos. Denise Parks and Riccardo Stoeckicht are paid a combined amount of over $300,000. Last year, Marina Mattheoudakis was hired with a salary of over $100,000 for the position of Dean of the Greek Department. Her job and many others of teachers are filled without a formal hiring process. Teachers are hired or given renewed contracts without being certified and favoritism is given to friends and family of those already working at Odyssey without necessarily having the qualifications. In addition, a new board president was chosen, Josiah Wolcott, to replace Dimitris Dandalos. Despite all outward appearances of trying to create a better relation between the board, admin, and the staff, nothing could be further from the truth. Dimitris Dandalos continues to serve in an unofficial capacity as a representative of the school both in the U.S. and even appearing on Greek news programs while seeking to fill another six-figure position that was created, tailor-made for him. Much more could be said, but what is important is the future of our children. With Odyssey under formal review by the DOE, that future remains uncertain for everyone.

Great teachers, awful administrators and board. Your kids are better off in public school!
