The history behind Mary McLeod Bethune is very important and for that fact alone, it's worth stopping at this museum. Like many museums in D.C., it's free and open throughout the week. However, it is TINY. It's a small row home in Logan Circle with two floors with several rooms. If you know about Mary McLeod Bethune beforehand, it's interesting. If you don't. Google her when you're there. The museum does very little to educate you on her life. There aren't helpful posters throughout the museum. Your best bet is to go on one of the few tours they do to actually learn about her.

Mary McLeod Bethune was a titan of the civil rights movement that is not as well recognized as she should be. Many thanks to the knowledgeable, enthusiastic and incredibly helpful National Park Service staff at this site. The Bethune House is one of a number of sites in the Logan Circle area that are managed by the NPS, and we look forward to visiting more of these next time.

It was awesome seeing first hand one of descendants be immortalized and honored in such an amazing way.
