Blumenthal Falls

Really nice hike. Quite easy, with some great views. But muddy and slippery with lots of roots in places.

I don't remembered visiting this place, must be my wife drag me to this place and hate every minute of it, I think that's why I don't remembered.

One of my favorite beach sites on the Oregon coast.

Blumenthal Falls is one of a very few waterfalls in the Northwest which can be seen dropping into the Pacific Ocean without aid of a boat. Though technically the 45 foot falls don't drop into the ocean outside the highest tides, the beach-side setting is unique. Below the falls, particularly on the left, are interesting whithered rock formations - likely of the Sandstone family (but possibly Schist as well). At low tides the large boulders below the falls create many tide pools for viewing sea life.

AKA Smugglers Cove Falls. August turns this magnificent wide spread torrent into a trickle, but one of the few waterfalls in Oregon that you can walk to and actually touch before it splashes into the Pacific Ocean. The color of the salt and fresh waters as they collide can be seen from above as well as at beach level. Part of Oswald West State Park. There is public use restrooms very close by.
