Short Sand Beach, Oswald West State Park

Short hike through old growth to reach this popular surfers’ beach. Tide pools and a waterfall at the north end. Silvery piles of driftwood towards the south. Off-leash dog friendly. Convenient plumbed public restroom beside the beach beside a trout stream.

An easy, family friendly walk in. Prettiest beach in the area.

It's a favorite old spot as a youngster. Still magical to me.

This place is truly a hidden gem! Just park in the lot right off the 101, walk about 10-20 minutes through the forest, and the clearing will open up into a beautiful beach cove. What a fantastic find along the highway! You never know what you'll find when you stop off at a random lot in Oregon.
