First of all I am 66 and this is not an ‘easy’ hike! But we did it and I only fell down twice! It begins with a steep drop into head high weeds on an animal trail. It is Autumn so there are still lots of flowers. (We worried about poison ivy but we didn’t itch the next day). Then you enter an enchanted ancient cedar forest that is other worldly. I don’t know why but the hikes are always a different distance than quoted. There are at least 3 trails here with other switchbacks to overlooks, including that you are on part of The Oregon Coast Trail. Anyway, we went 1.7 miles in 1 hour when we got to a place where you have to climb over massive like 4 foot diameter downed trees and called it quits so I’m not sure where it stops. We could see the beach below. A very strenuous hike back. You need to be nimble footed (or young) to navigate the tree root path. But we are so glad we did it, beautiful!
This trail is absolutely beautiful!! It offers many beautiful views of the coast and is relatively easy. It gets really muddy when it’s wet outside so it can be slippery at times. I’m definitely coming back every time I’m in the area.
An easy and short hike, great place to bring children and pets along. The first part of the hike is mostly downwards, to the beach and the waterfall. The views are fantastic. Make sure to take the detour to Devil's Cauldron overlook for an amazing view of the cove and the ocean.
Wish I'd spent more time hiking this whole area! I did happen to stroll with an elderly gentleman who was from there and it was such an informative talk! The old growth forest is amazing. Some of the moss covered stumps looked like faces for how the moss was on them!
the view was amazing, my dog loved the trail. You do have to be carefuk since the trail hasn't been cleaned up so there's some tree fall. Other than that is a really nice hike
