Hands down the best truckstop I've been to in my years of driving. The food is #1 the prices are very reasonable. The customer service is top notch from the restaurant to the store. Hell i felt like family. Then to top it all off a free shower for this old truckstop. I always use to pass bye. I apologize im never passing this truckstop again. I will be back very soon.
Don't know if that is how food is always cooked there but it was nasty. I order the chicken breast covered in bacon and cheese with smashed potatoes and fried okra. The smashed potatoes was instant and was told that is what smashed potatoes was. No sweetie thats is just instanced mashed potatoes, 'smashed' is real potatoes cooked and then smashed. The fried okra was oily and just nasty. This was supposed to chicken breast covered with bacon and cheese. Yea those tenders are a real chicken breast too. Hmmm... Maybe if I do go again it might be better. I dont know. Picture is from Aug 10, 2020.
Stopped off here on our way back to Poplar Bluff, MO. Where excited as we read it was one of the oldest truck stops in the nation. We walked in and thought it was pretty neat but sadly sat there for nearly 20 minutes without a simple acknowledgement. We ended up walking out after several waitresses walked by and didn’t bother to say anything. Don’t waste your time at this place. Most likely, unless you’re a local or a good ole boy, you won’t get any service. Total disappointment. I really wanted that fried pie!
Everything was delicious. Chicken liver was excellent, the best one I’ve ever had. Service was great as well. If you ever find yourself in this area, this restaurant is a must!
I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to history. To know I'm sitting in the nation's oldest truck stop makes my heart sing. I stopped for the fruit stand across the street but came in to stretch my legs after driving my semi all morning. Thank you for still being here and not burning to the ground. ud83eudd2aud83dude1cud83eudd70ud83dude07
