Once upon a time there was an old post office in a small village called St. Johann am Tauern. When the long-serving post manager Christl is sent into well-deserved retirement, progressive minds in the post office decide that it is no longer profitable to fill a new post. The postman can do the job. And so it came about that the office became orphaned and was taken over by the community. Soon afterwards, the Thum department store said goodbye to local events and the rural population of St. Johann am Tauern was left without local suppliers. There were 10 km of federal roads to get to the next grocer. No matter whether in a northerly direction to Hohentauern or in a southerly direction to Möderbrugg. You can't accept that like that! Since no grocer was found who dared to invest here, an association was quickly founded to take care of the population. With combined forces, all bureaucratic obstacles and concerns, including those from the trade, were overcome and a small place for the sale of food and household items was established. After the pub in St. Johann am Tauern was dying out, a room for the community citizens to get together was also installed. After the service there is a lively exchange of ideas. There is also room for coffee parties and the smallest of celebrations in the room criteria. KAUF & TREFF - a truly apt name, which came about through a citizen survey, for this peaceful meeting place. If you drive over the Triebener Tauern and pass the Pölstal, stop and take a look at the charming village, preferably at a stop at Kauf & Treff.
