Mettams Pool

Great spot

Nice strip of beach for a quiet swim or catch some waves.. Or just lie on the sand and get some rays...

This is the Mettam's Pool for snorkelling, not the one a few hundred metres north. There's a little ramp that goes into the water. We came around 5PM in Jan and the waters were super choppy, huge waves! But there were still tiny children in the water having a great time. No water got in my snorkel despite the waves crashing overhead!nWe saw about 10-15 types of fish of all sizes within 50m of shore, the largest fish about 50cm! Unfortunately no super colourful fish here, they were mostly grey or dark coloured.nnBiggest downside are the numerous super sharp rock formations just under the water near shore, and with the huge waves blowing us about all of us ended up with scrapes.nnOverall a great place for snorkeling considering the changing rooms, showers, and toilets available! There were 2x indoor shower stalls, and 2x toilet stalls (one wheelchair accessible), all part of a large indoor changing space.

Beautiful sunsets, toilets close by but a bit dirty. Beach ok lots of seaweed around over autumn.

Normally this little gem of a place is great for kids but recent sand erosion has the beach front full of reef rocks right on the waters edge. Trying to manoeuvre your way into the water was difficult and extremely hard. Some are half a metre in height.
