The first specialist I went to was Dr Kenneth Nathan who told me my only options were to remove my uterus or to induce menopause hormonally upon learning I had an 8mm (likely never confirmed) endometriota or ovarian cyst. As you can imagine i was a bit surprised at his options and decided the risks outweigh the benefits at that time. He had also advised me that diagnostic laparoscopy would not be recommended despite not knowing the full extent of the growth and if it would cause issues in the future. When I asked about the risks of the hormonal treatments (which would cost a thousand dollars per month) he avoided giving me exact statistics of actual positive outcomes in the people he treated and instead tried to persuade me of the ‘low risk involved which I knew was not true from my own research’. I went with my gut and decided not to go with this doctor. 2 years later I started getting much more severe bladder pain, recurrent utis and pelvic pain. I decided to get another ultrasound done thinking the lump on my right ovary was a cyst and had now burst. Unfortunately turns out it had grown to the size of my ovary at 32x37 mm. I promptly went to my gp and asked for a referral to Dr Fred Busch. I was almost immediately contacted by Dr Fred Busch’s reception and he had sent blood tests to do in preparation my first appointment. I knew at that point he was not messing around with multiple appointments just to request blood tests. Following the blood tests he got me in within 4 days for a consultation and organised to have the endometriota along with anything else he could find surgically removed the following friday. I am now recovering at Saint John of God and I can hands down say despite what ended up being a complex procedure and difficult for even the most skilled surgeon, he did with such precision and care. I had stage 4 endometriosis and he managed to remove a great deal from my bladder, ureter (which he said was covered) without causing any damage at all even with the higher risks for bladder and ureter injury. I don’t think anyone could have done a better job than him or had the care to make sure they didn’t injure anything as much as he did. His kindness and understanding, especially honesty when I asked him how many patients he has personally injured from the procedure i have not seen before. He did not try to cover up his past mistakes and I can easily say he genuinely cares about his patients and recommend anyone who is considering a skilful surgeon for endometriosis to go with Dr Fred. Thank you Dr Fred, and I hope you can help more people like me.

Dr Busch is an excellent obstetrician. I had a very different experience with my first OB - made very much to feel like my opinion in the birth of my baby wasn't important. Dr Busch was very interested in what I wanted - but more importantly he is excellent at what he does. I couldn't recommend him enough. His nurse Mel is also very good and the women's centre is a welcoming and comfortable place to visit.

I can not recommend Dr Busch more highly. He was initially my ob and ever since my gyn. I would not trust anyone else. He makes you feel very comfortable and he is very thorough and just great at what he does. Best Ob in Perth.

We had a very, very bad experience with a female gynaecologist (who has great reviews) and a very ordinary male gynaecologist, but Dr Busch was completely different. We were recommended Dr Busch by a friend and would recommend Fred to anybody who requires help. I promise you will not find a kinder, more caring doctor. Over the past 10 years our family has encountered about 20 doctors, from cancer, to stomach issues and even to a broken wrist, but Dr Busch is the only doctor we have ever had faith in.

My partner saw Dr Fred Busch and had preventative surgery for a gynecological condition. Cannot praise him highly enough. He has a fantastic bed side manner, gave clear and concise information and welcomed questions at all times. Highly recommend.
