Lovely place for family BBQ around both side of the small lake.

Perfect place for family hangout. Quiet place for nature lovers and lots of bird you can see there.

One of the most restful and pleasant spots in the Sydney district. It has everything: fragrant bushland, stately trees, impressive sandstone cliffs, a river with a bridge arching over it where you can lean on the hand-rail and contemplate the water-lilies and the water-fowl, space, shade, picnic tables, a huge shelter with seats and barbecues big enough for a family or club gathering, and of course toilets. There is a café, and boats and kayaks are for rent over on the western bank.nnBut it's NOT FREE to park here. You must pay for a day ticket, or have a National Parks sticker on your car.nnThe only down-side to this lovely place is noise from the constant stream of passing traffic. Things get much quieter if you cross the bridge and explore the south side, along the well-made Engadine Track that runs by the Hacking River.nnTake care crossing the weir/causeway. The traffic is almost constant. But if you do, then there is a whole other world to explore, over on the northern side. Notice the oysters growing on the rocks? That's because the north side of the river is salt water, and the south side is fresh.nnGreat place to take small kids for the day. There are paths for trikes and scooters, but watch them when they are near the water.nnAnd don't feed the birds! It's bad for them - AND there is a huge fine.

There is a toilet there and one table for picnic. Suitable for 2 WD but you have to park near the farm house and walk to the picnic area which is about 1 km. 4WD can drive to the Ironbark picnic area.
