Dr. Alex O'Beirne

First met at St John's Murdoch was told my daughter needed surgery on broken finger as it would be disfigured if she didn't have it done. He seemed very nice although did use some swear words in conversation which I generally don't with my children. Had surgery at St John's Subiaco was told the screw he put in was too long but only get one chance at doing it so if you have problems could be taken out in 6 months. We went back in 6 months as her finger was still quite swollen looking around joint. Explained we had done all the physio appointments following surgery but didn't help the look of finger. Was then told it would cost another $400 out of pocket to remove the screw that was too long and try to fix the shape a little. Explained that already had quite a large out of pocket expense with first surgery only to be told maybe I should get a better health insurer, I have HBF gold cover which I presume is quite high cover. My daughter was then told if she put on a bit of weight her finger wouldn't look as bad. I haven't been back and will endeavour to find a different surgeon to remove the screw from her finger.Overall very poor treatment all round .

Don't like being charged for a Post-Op subsequent visit . I paid the over the schedule amount for the Surgery. I have never been charged for Post Op visits by any other Surgeons. What is the point of having Private Insurance when you are continually having to pay out. When I didn't attend the appointment I received a Bill for $55 for non attendance !!!

Mr Alex O’Beirne recently operated on my right hand. I was in a great deal of pain and had very limited use of my hand prior to the surgery. From my initial consultation, the surgery and follow up appointments, I was impressed by Mr O’Beirne’s very pleasant manner, his willingness to explain the surgical procedure he would perform and his obvious surgical skill in greatly improving the condition of my hand. Having previously had my left hand operated on by a different surgeon, which resulted in very painful complications, I was anxious about having my right hand operated on. My experience with Mr O’Beirne has been excellent and I am very grateful to have such a positive result. I would highly recommend him. Added to this, I found Mr O’Beirne’s secretary to be very professional, efficient and lovely to deal with. Thank you.
