Last Saturday, my son and I were on our way to a family BBQ. Not wanting to go empty handed, I decided to buy a bottle of wine at Chambers Cellars. However, the young person attending the shop refused to sell me a bottle because my son (15 yr old) was with me at the time. His reason was that he believed I would give the wine to my son to drink! I tried to explain that we were off to a BBQ, but he wouldn't see reason. So I spoke with the store manager, who unfortunately took the side of the attendant and reiterated that NSW law did not allow the selling of alcohol to anyone if a minor is present, even if it is his dad.nSo I checked the law! It turns out both the attendant and the store manager were either misinformed, or lying!nThe Liquor Act 2007 - Sect 117 clearly states the contrary, that liquor can be sold if a parent (me) is present.nPoor form Chamber Cellars, very poor form! You've just lost a long standing customer...oh, and the Liquor shop down the road was more friendly, and cheaper too! Guess where my friends and I will be going from now on!
