I attended Equilibrium Hair last year. It is the worst hairdressing experience I have ever had and I would NEVER recommend the salon. I received a recommendation by a female I rented from, whom later caused me unexplained, but significant problems.nAfter calling the hair salon, I attended a consultation. The hairdresser reiterated correctly what I had requested to be done and I booked an appointment.nI arrived at the salon on time, was courteous and friendly as usual and restated my desired hairdressing outcome. The young hairdresser confirmed her understanding of my desired result and we were in agreement with each other. However, the salon owner (Robert Carlon), pulled her aside and advised her to do the opposite to what I had requested to be done, without my consent or knowledge.nI had requested a half head of foils, specifying the exact colour and percentage of colour which my previous hairdresser had used, with the purpose of covering up my partially grey hair and adding highlights to the remainder of my hair. I also requested hair trim, with a couple of long layers as my hair was in good condition.nInstead of doing this, the salon owner directed his employee to NOT colour any of my grey hair, to colour my naturally pigmented hair and to cut the layers by thinning out the ends. All of this was the opposite to what I had requested and what we had agreed upon. It was also the worst thing that could be done to my hair and destroyed it.nIn the thirty years I have had my hair done professionally by hairdressers, as both a client and in the use of photo shoots, I have never had a salon owner be rude to me, insult me, yell at me, tell me that I am a liar about what I have previously had done to my hair, nor tell me that my use of the word 'foils' is incorrect. I have never had a hairdresser do anything different to what I have asked. They have always done what they can to achieve my desired result. That was not the case at Equilibrium Hair.nWhen the colour was washed out of my hair, that was when I found out the extent of the lack of respect which this salon owner had showed me, when all I could see was grey hair and my naturally pigmented hair coloured in a way in which I had not requested it to be coloured. Then my hair was thinned out with scissors, which is the opposite to the way in which I had requested that my hair be trimmed because it is the worst thing you can do to the kind of hair I have.nIn thirty years of attending hairdressing salons, I have developed a great rapport with every hairdresser I have ever seen. I have even been asked to model for them because of how good my hair was to work with (both colour, trim and styling). I have always maintained a respectful, friendly and amicable relationship with hairdressers and have never been yelled at and humiliated by them. This salon owner yelled at me repeatedly to the point of tears and abused and insulted me. As a result, I would NEVER recommend that anybody subject themselves to his unpredictable, unstable and discriminatory manner, loaded with false perception. He was irrational to deal with and was highly incorrect about his use of certain hairdressing terminology, which has been confirmed by numerous other hairdressers whom I asked.nSeveral hairdressers who work in some of the top salons in Australia confirmed that my use of the term 'foils' was correct and also confirmed that the way the salon owner had directed the hairdresser to colour and cut my hair was the worst direction one could have possibly given regarding my type of hair. They have all known me for many years and know that I have always had very healthy and beautiful, thick hair. They also know that I am a very nice person who didn't deserve to be subjected to such abusive and confrontational interaction.nI would NEVER recommend Equilibrium Hair. In thirty years of being a hair salon client, my interactions have always been positive, respectful and friendly. Hairdressers have always loved working with my hair. They were Masters of their craft. The complete opposite to this salon owner.
