It takes 1 minute out of your day to be a decent human and let people know you're not open anymore. It's not hard
BatReach is a bat hospital and education centre. Owner Pam cares for an education group of permanent care flying-foxes and rehabilitates many more orphaned pups and injured adults and insectivorous bats and possums and other mammals. When she has very large numbers of animals in care she cannot open for visitors except when specially arranged. However at other times she is open most days between 10am and 2pm and will give a bat talk to visitors who will get to meet a live flying-fox safely up close for the cost of a gold coin donation. Pam relies on volunteers to help with fruit cutting each day and takes on volunteers to assist with daily education and care tasks.
What a good cause saving these wonderful and pivotal species. Without any assistance from local government and relying on donations these volunteers are doing a wonderful job BUT need our support - please visit, donate and spread the word where and when you can bringing awareness to the cause and educating the public on the importance of Flying Foxes to the Rain forest.
Volunteers doing an amazing job at saving these wonderful and pivotal species. Not getting any assistance from local government, so relying on donations. In fact the shocking truth is that Cairns council have been destroying these poor creatures habitat! The dedication of this group of volunteers is mind blowing and they are doing great work bringing awareness to the cause and educating the public on the importance of Flying Foxes to the Rainforest. Also, they are making a wonderful effort to change public perception on these animals that have been unfairly villanised by media and entertainment industries!
