Good walk would suggest taking it easy,. Pace yourself, take water a camera and enjoy the view.

Consisting of many trail walks and treks with different color representing different difficulty levels, must tell you, Mouth Whitfield Conservation Park is Damn Beautiful. We would definitely list it under one of the best and Must Dos.

The green, red, blue & yellow arrow walking tracks are absolutely fantastic. The views from the top are amazing. It's great to get back into nature which is only a short distance from the heart of Cairns.

A very nice conservation area which takes many hours to complete, but it's a bit close to the airport so you are regularly hearing aircraft take off, which is quite unpleasant. Although I couldn't hear any aircraft taking off or touching down when I was walking down the Blue Arrow Track.nnYou can gain access to Mount Whitfield Conservation at multiple entry points along Collins Ave, either via a lake-side walk at the entrance to Collins Ave just off Captain Cook Highway, or near parking bays further down Collins Ave.nnThere are no water fountains in Mount Whitfield Conservation, so make sure you bring enough water with you. The humidity during the summer months is unbearably high, so you probably want to take a face towel with you as well.nnThe tree canopy down the Blue Arrow Track is absolutely stunning. I saw what I thought were wallabies, and plenty of brushturkeys, in the area.nnAs Cairns is so close to the equator, the sun sets really early by European standards. I was taken aback at how early the sun sets during the summer months here. In my home country, the sun doesn't set at the height of summer until about 10 PM. Here, the sun sets at 6:50 PM during the summer months and by 5:50 PM during the winter months. Make sure you leave yourself at least 4 hours before sunset to properly enjoy the area.nnUnless you are prepared to start hiking at 5:30 AM in the morning, it always feels too hot and humid during the summer months, and it doesn't really cool down until 8 PM onwards. Nonetheless, the conservation area is so worth exploring even at the height of summer, but be prepared to handle the heat.nnVisibility quickly fades under the tree canopy after the sun has set, so again make sure you leave yourself enough time to properly explore the conservation area.nnThere are no facilities in the conservation area – no surprise – but there are facilities near Cairns Esplanade (and water fountains within Cairns Esplanade), both of which are about 20 to 30 minutes away by foot after leaving the conservation area via Collins Ave.
