What a lovely time! I thoroughly enjoyed the wine and cheese tasting at Uncorked and Cultivated. Not only was the food and wine beautiful, but the extraordinary knowledge of Peter Scudamore-Smith (Master of Wine) and his wife Denise, made for such an enjoyable time, filled with lots of stories to make me long for a trip back to Europe!

Master of Wine Peter Scudamore-Smith and his wife Denise are brilliant hosts and wine consultants, with a marvellous knack of connecting a room full of strangers in lively conversation as they indulge and educate.nnUncorked and Cultivated delivers tailored vineyard and winery advisory services.nnPeter Scudamore-Smith, Master of Wine, is the founder and director of Uncorked and Cultivated. A wine and cheese tasting at Uncorked and Cultivated is quite the treat. Fine wines, delectable cheeses and a great vibe all around with Master of Wine Peter Scudamore-Smith and his lovely wife Denise Wiseman. They make everyone in the room feel welcome, and have great stories about Italy and France to share.

My name is Andrew Jones, I have been in the hospitality industry since 1994, starting as a waiter/bar staff, then onto Bar Manager, Venue Manager and now General Manager.nWhile having a strong business knowledge on running bars, restaurants and bottleshops, I have always wanted to extend my knowledge base on alcohol, especially wine. On the recommendation of one of my staff, I attended Andrew and Peter’s tasting group, and was exposed to a completely new world of education and experience.nLearning to tell what wine is Old World or New World, what the varietal is, the styles, regionality, and quality, all from a blind tasting, and listening to my senses, matched to the knowledge gained with 2 Masters of Wine, is fantastic, and thoroughly worth any expense and effort.nIt was probably the most challenging and rewarding experience of my career, and has stood me in good stead with my peers, clients, customers and employers. I have gone on to complete WSET 3 and am going on to WSET 4 (then hopefully to MW), and had great opportunities working with wineries, and winemakers from all over Australia and Overseas. I have also worked at the Barossa Wine Show as an Associate Judge (a most rewarding and enjoyable experience).nI would thoroughly recommend Uncorked and Cultivated as a great way “to learn from those that know”.
