My disabled husband and I boarded the Providence V, with assistance from crew. The crew were so helpful and caring, putting all my fears at rest. We motored out of the Marina and then the sails were hoisted with assistance by volunteers. So peaceful and relaxing. Good platter of food and champagne. Perfect position for watching and photographing the Sunset. Then sails down and we motored back to the Marina.nThankyou for a wonderful cruise.nBruce and Lorraine
Really excellent day at the Whitsundays on Providence V. Our crew comprised Pete and Sam who were both really friendly and took great care of us all day. Sam was relatively new to the role and it was great seeing Pete show him the ropes (literally!).nnThere was great communication all day, letting us know the plan and when we’d next be getting a drink or snack. We had plenty of time at Whitehaven beach, and were thankfully the only group at the lookout when we arrived - not sure if the crew timed this well on purpose as a group arrived just after us, but it was great to have the place to ourselves without a big crowd.nnThe food was delicious - homemade brownies for morning tea, quiche and chicken wraps for lunch and fruit in the afternoon. We also enjoyed some cold beers that we purchased from the crew on the sail back.nnI previously visited the Whitsundays and did a faster boat with another company but I much preferred this day out. It’s a slower pace being an older sail boat, but with so much to see it is nice to be able to sit back and relax on such a beautiful vessel. We got a bit of rain and it was slightly overcast for our snorkel but Pete did his best to find a good spot for us and point out the best coral.nnI would highly recommend Providence for anyone looking for a slower paced day exploring the Whitsundays.
Worlds crankiness skipper. After being dropped off in the morning we quickly ducked into the cafe to grab a coffee and we were aggressively told that the boat was ready to leave including an elderly couple and they could not wait any longer besides the coffee being 30 seconds away from being made. Once in the boat it was pretty evident that the main skipper was in a cranky mood, smoked at least 3 cigarettes before reaching the reef and couldn't kick us out of the boat soon enough so he could have another one. He changed his tune a bit once out at sea, but we also noticed he seemed to treat his deck hand like dirt Morning tea was cold party pies and lunch consisted of wraps and a brownie, kinda ok but not what I would expect from a 165$ cruise. When booking we were told about morning tea and buffet lunch. Would expect better and more genuine treatment as a paying customer.
Went out for the sun set cruise, although the clouds were out the spirits were still high as we cruised around with the sails up. My wife and I are very happy to have gone on it. I have read some other reviews complaining about shoes. Take your thongs and enjoy your barefoot cruise. I also recommend going towards the front of the deck and sitting on the green rectangular seat. It's wonderful.
Adrian our Skipper was fantastic, and gave us lots of local information. Great way to enjoy the sunset over the Whitsundays, and we enjoyed experiencing an authentic baby tall ship. One small point, quality of the drinks and nibbles could be better.
