Not a bad shop with a good range of beers but they have stopped taking cash. My money will now get spent elsewhere as this disproportionately affects the disadvantaged, as paying by credit (i.e. not EFTPOS) is their only contactless option. There is zero justification, medically, scientifically, or otherwise for not accepting cash. There is no evidence that its use increases the risk of the spread of Covid, there is not a single verifiable case I can find that gives the handling of cash as the cause of transmission, which is now widely believed to be solely aerosol based. To use EFTPOS as opposed to credit I have to use their keypad to enter my PIN (which I witnessed being used by the two customers prior to me without being wiped down in between, who knows how many before them subsequent to the last cleaning), certainly no cleaner or more hygienic than handling cash. Last time I was in there before the latest lockdown the staff were happy to allow me entry without a mask, and serve me maskless themselves (as is their total right when not required by law, and I am happy for them to do so) whilst making me feel like a disease riddled scumbag at the thought of handing my cash when I pulled out $50, he literally recoiled. It would appear to be hypocritical at best to enforce the non-use of cash in order to protect from its infinitesimal threat of Covid whilst simultaneously not requiring the use of the single best defense we have against the spread, the wearing of face masks, which I would happily don & continue to shop there if that were their shop's requirement.
