Well worth the short drive out of Rocky to take in the vistas from the walking paths up here at Fraser Park on Mount Archer's summit. Picnic tables, barbecues, drinking water and toilets are provided, and the interpretive walkway above the trees is great.
Brilliantly maintained and suitable for those in wheelchairs. The road up felt safe and well maintained. The is also a large playground nearby tucked away without prominent signage. Unfortunately there was significant cloud cover when we went up however this had its own charm and was a hauntingly beautiful experience!
The panoramic views are well worth the short drive from Rocky. The lookout was undergoing improvements when we visited in September, so the new amenities will surely make it an even better destination to spend a few hours. Plan a picnic or, when the cafe opens, just go for a coffee and enjoy ... Feels like a world away. No hiking or steep climbs required here, level boardwalks and paved footpaths are abundant now, so it's very accessible. Parking may be an issue though.
Absolutely stunning views of surrounding area. Can see all of Rockhampton, even Yeppoon and the islands!nSome easy walks to other close lookouts. Lots of sheltered areas for picnics. Cafe was not open when we went this last Sunday (although sign says it's open weekends only...go figure??).nClean amenities.
This spot offers a perfect view over the city of Rockhampton. You can see pretty much all the major landmarks in the city. It's also a nice drive up there and it enjoys a slightly cooler temperature with sea breezes. There is also views looking north east so you can see Yeppoon and Byfield National Park but these are somewhat blocked by some trees. The amenities are pretty good too with lighting, boarded walkways, bbqs, seating areas and a few short walks.
