Whereas I am very grateful for RACQ's roadside assistance , I wonder whether they are aware of a possible racket where the mechanics subcontracted by RACQ for roadside assistance have become paid spotters for tow truck operators . On the few occasions we requested RACQ roadside help over the last 30 years, we noticed a suspicious pattern where towing was advised without the mechanic even lifting the bonnet. A tow truck driver ultimately whispered the secret in our ears.
