Anstead Bushland Reserve

A great public space with native bushland and historical interest. The lower car park is close to amenities, toilets and picnic shelters. The trails crisscross the reserve, some for horses. The top car park is best for quick access to Sugars Quarry vs the lookout over the quarry. Both have good views of the Brisbane River. From the top car park, take the track west to the quarry and river; keep heading straight (don't follow the bitumen track curving right) follow the dirt track over the rise (water tank on right) and keep heading straight. Follow the track down the hill to the quarry and information board. From here you can see the Brisbane river, the quarry workings and the lookout at the top of the quarry. When you walk back up, at the top of the hill, turn left to follow the trail to the lookout. You can keep walking in a clockwise direction till you get back to whet to started. The acacias and lantana are in full flower.

Great place to walk the dogs. Easy to follow paths, most in shade. Toilets, covered picnic tables and bbq's clean and well kept. Water for dogs. Doggy bags would improve it. Great views of quarry and Brisbane river. A little bit of serenity in a busy city.

Great walk, we brought our baby in her push trike and our fur baby. Some really interesting reads and old machinery remains of a basalt quarry which can be seen from the lookout located at the top of the old quarry.

Nice and quiet with paths for wheelchairs
