I expected the usual disinterest one gets from public servants as I entered the office. What I got was astounding!!nThe Ranger Bruno and the lady behind the desk, forgive me her name, were overwhelmingly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful beyond my wildest dreams. All I wanted were a couple of scratch maps of a bit of the forest. What I got was a detailed description of the entire set up and high quality maps of the whole thing. I'm still shaking my head at the level of service these two workers showed. They truly are a credit to their department and a beacon to the tourist industry in this state. This is not ironic, but totally sincere.

Yes, it's an information centre, it's usually closed and don't expect them to post you out a years pass ($50) if you pay for one. Pretty lax really

No longer total fire ban and closed, the pine trees are excellent to walk through as its a nice change from aussie scrub.
