Telstra Museum

I wish it was open more often. Awesome place.

The museum houses the best and most comprehensive display of communications equipment and its history in Qld. This encompasses everything from Telegraph ( Morse ) gear to recently redundant telephony equipment. Staffed by a knowledgeable group of volunteers who have access to a mine of information.

Bigger than I expected. People were really helpful despite the fact that we nearly came at closure. Only open on Wednesdays though.

Excellent place to see the evolution of communications in Australia.

Last Wednesday 30/10/19 the Probus Club of Coorparoo went for a tour of the Telstra Museum, believe me, this is well worth the 2 hour tour. We started off with a 40 minute video lecture, which at times was quite funny, looking back and going through the ages of Telecommunication. This is a working Museum and there are telephones from 1878, Morse Code Demonstrations, Switchboards ( working units) Teleprinters and Telex machines. Don had organised our tour, and all the other men who are volunteers do a wonderful job and they enjoy their hobby which makes it so interesting. Thank you for an interesting afternoon, our Members really enjoyed your tour.
