Had a great time refreshing my PG2 license at Oz Paraglding. Lisa and her parents were extremely accomodating and the instruction and guidance was excellent. I got some great flights in at Mt Tamborine at the end of it and highly reccomend the school. Thanks again Lisa

At age 62, and not having flown a hang glider since 1984, I wondered if after 36 years absence and some physical decline, whether or not I could still get back into the pure joy of free flying.nnI tentatively put out a feeler to Lisa Bradley, CFI (Chief Flying Instructor) of ‘Oz Paragliding & Hang Gliding School’ at the Oz Sky Ranch Canungra. Lisa was a super encouraging and an absolute bundle of high energy, her passion for both teaching and free flight immediately convinced me I still had it in me, and I could do it!nnI decided to take the option to live on site at the Sky Ranch for the duration of the course, this was a great decision, allowing me to meet and bond with fellow budding pilots, sharing our learning experience and supporting each other through each of the learning stages.nnOur course was a multi discipline course with both hang glider and paraglider students. It was a great to learn about each other’s discipline and understand the limitations of each other’s glider types, given that we would be flying together sharing the same airspace.nnAs a group of budding pilots (both hangies and paras), we developed a great team spirit over the coming days as we steadily progressed from the early training slopes to the mid slopes and finally to the high flights off Mt Tamborine.nnThe para students were awesome with their support, helping carry hang gliders back up the slope, taking our pack up gear down to the landing field in their back packs, and even whipper snipping an overgrown launch site for us! Likewise, grateful hangies tried to reciprocate and show support wherever we could.nnThe training days were often long and at times frustrating, mother nature does not follow a timetable! We learned to be flexible, with both our schedules and our mindset. When the weather was off, we studied theory, when it was on, we hit the training slopes.nnAs quickly as the course began, we were nearing the end, and the excitement of the prospect of our first high flights off Mt Tamborine was palpable. The excitement and anticipation grew even further as we visited both the launch and landing sites doing physical inspections of the areas, getting familiar with all we needed to know for our first high flights.nnFinally, the day for our first high flights came, the westerly winds were good for ‘Tambo’ (Mt Tambourine). Bracing ourselves to the early morning chill we ascended the mountain and started preparing our gear, everyone going through their well-practiced set up and safety inspection routines that Lisa had repeatedly drummed into us.nnWith everyone hooked up on UHF radios, Lisa at the landing site and Walt guiding us off the launch site, we one by one made our maiden high flights. The paras got off first and then the hangies, the mixture of apprehension and excitement was intoxicating, but nothing could compare to the feeling of suddenly becoming airborne and gliding like a bird.nnWe flew again and again over two days, as many flights as we could squeeze into a day whilst the conditions were right. Progressively, Lisa gave us more independence allowing us to make our own decisions in flight and gain that crucial confidence required for solo flying. At the end of the last day, I was both exhausted and elated, staying on an adrenaline high for many hours after, as did all the students, as we shared our stories and excitement.nnAll good things must come to an end, and as we all headed off back to our ‘other lives’, I reflected on the amazing experience I had just had, and the new friendships I had made. I realized that this was not an end at all, but a wonderful new beginning in an amazing sport with like minded people who all share that common bond, the love of ‘free flying’ like a bird.nnThank you Lisa, for your passion for this sport, and your love of teaching. I fell in love with ‘free flight’ in my early 20’s, and now with your encouragement and training, I have rediscovered it again in my 60’s. I wish you and ‘Oz Paragliding & Hang Gliding School’ all the success you deserve going forward into the future.

Flying with Lisa was absolutely magical! One of the best experience of my life ! I felt really safe and I could feel how knowledgeable is Lisa. More sober I had the chance to take the lead up there and it was incredible. I had this sensation of freedom and peacefulness. I really recommend anyone to go with Lisa ! It was amazing!

The best people to fly with ! Lisa & her team taught me to paraglide in NZ, and when I wanted to fly in Australia - it was an easy decision to book in a short course with Lisa to get me ready for the Australian conditions. Amazing people to learn with - safety is paramount, their knowledge & teaching is perfect & most importantly, they make you part of the flying family! If you are Interested but not sure if you can do it??? - let Lisa & John take you for a tandem - AMAZING, truly once is never enough!
