Had a chance to visit with relatives and enjoy the lake life for a week! Staff secured us a great spot and made sure we had everything we needed. Very pleasant neighbours and the price was great. Granted, being that close to the railroad tracks; I now miss being rocked to sleep some nights...lol. It’s funny how fast a person becomes accustomed to a bit of background noise. We enjoyed the welcoming community, walking the dogs daily, visiting with friends/family, time out on the lake and a bit of sight seeing as well.
I am convinced that every positive review on this site is fake. We arrived to discover our site had been double booked so we were essentially placed in the parking lot next to what appeared to be an abandoned house. Literally right next to the dumpsters and train tracks (trains went by every 10 minutes and shook our trailer). The spots are within a few feet of each other (to maximize income I’m sure) and everything is run down. To top it off, the water had E. coli. Not their fault but the owner told us to go ahead and swim anyways (“just don’t ingest the water”) which is completely irresponsible. We have a 4 and 6 year old that can’t help but take in a little water while swimming.
We took a loss on our deposit and transferred to the beautiful Cottonwood Cove resort as soon as it was possible. On the bright side, we felt like we were in heaven once we left Glen Echo.
This place is amazing. People will put their trailers for lease and then you can rent it out. Some of the trailers have a whole deck and a staircase to the beach.
Going downhill. The upholstry on the booths is all wprn out and dirty. Service is good. The food has gone downhill a bit. Smaller portions. The little things are disappearing. It used to be special. Now its not. Bathrooms are very nice. Parking is good, but the food is boring. I won't be going back. Such a disapointment.
Had to book a site last minute and Ian was very helpful! Got this beautiful tenting site. Clean bathrooms, friendly atmosphere and good beach! Very close to the train but wasn’t too bad.
