This review is a few years late. The site is in high demand, needed to book several months ahead. Did a ton of research beforehand and it's the best camping site you'll find close to Banff. It's small and you will need to park your car in a designated area, not by your campsite. The lake is beautiful but can't really swim in it due to the ash sediment at the bottom. Stayed here for a few days. No big animals came through but heard the haunting sound of two loons on the lake calling each other in the dark before dawn. One night there was a thunderstorm, deafening cracks of thunder ricocheting from the mountain tops. Next morning dad and the kids said they didn't hear anything! Go figure.

Beautiful views of the lakeside! no electrical - as stated on the Parks website. You do have to park a little ways away (1 minute walk) from your site to access your vehicle (which is why they are called walk-in sites). You do require to keep all food and any scents related to food, etc. in your vehicle (due to wildlife problem) and you will find you do have to travel back and forth to your vehicle often. I do recommend buying a bundle of dried wood on your way to the campsite (gas station) as the wood here has been continuously damp and of poor quality (FYI). Definitely will book here again due to the serenity and beautiful views this lakeside campsite has to offer!

A wonderful campground outside of Banff. The kitchen/picnic shelters were boarded up due to the pandemic. The wash sinks were still available. The washrooms were open, but the showers were also closed. We had a walk-in site close to the lake. It was not too far of a walk from the parking area. There is a nice trail along the edge of the lake.

Not private at all, cant park your car in your site, parking lot lights hit the campsite at night taking away the natural feeling. Beatiful lake and mountain views accessible from the campsite. Definitely wouldnt go back, but others may enjoy it.

This is my favourite campground in the province. Beautiful views, great layout, unlimited firewood!
