Advantage Self Storage Port Hardy

Rude people burning beside the place blocking the roadway in/out. Tried to get through politely only to get told get the f out of there while looking at the facility in need of storage space.

VERY frustrating and time/money wasting experience. I highly recommend you avoid this place. -Sketchy neighbourhood -NO security -Run down units -Unprofessional -Incompetent -Was told by a few locals to avoid It took 2 days to get ahold of them at first. The person running the business had me meet up with an employee (who was very nice) at a time that was convenient for them to check out the unit I wanted. Unit was not as described. I had to physically help the employee there move SOMEONE ELSE’S belongings out of a suitable unit so that I could actually use it. Slugs inside unit. It seems like they frequently break into their own units?? The hinges were terrible and the door didn’t close completely (both could easily be pried open). They didn’t know if they even had the key to lock the actual door handle which is weird. It would not be very hard to break into at all. Neither employee seemed too sure whether or not there were cameras either. No fences or gates. There is a very obvious drug problem in the neighbourhood. After I checked out the unit & put my own lock on it as instructed, I kept trying to arrange the “second part” aka paperwork/payment part with the owner so that I could move in. She wouldn’t even directly answer questions about security or paperwork and simply never got back to me - she only seemed interested in payment (and not answering questions/concerns after I had already put my lock on... I literally felt like I had to chase her for basic info). I checked out the unit on a Wednesday morning and had told her I needed to move everything in by Saturday and was leaving town by Monday and she simply wouldn’t get back to me. I felt like I was just frantically trying to contact her the whole time and it really messed my plans up. I could have been spending that time looking for alternatives. I felt bad just leaving the lock there. I had to give a friend gas money to go remove the lock as I obviously didn’t feel comfortable at this juncture. WAY TOO MANY red flags. I found it really odd that they didn’t want to see my ID or to talk about paperwork or security at all. I bought a $30 lock and spent $20 on gas going there twice (once to check out the unit/once to remove my lock). I ended up storing my belongings in some random guy’s garage because this place never got back to me. Seriously odd “business”. $50 wasted and I’m pretty livid. Not to mention the time left hanging, effort, and stress.

No visible security measures. When I asked about recent B&E as RCMP were asking online, she said she knew nothing at all. Not very likely or they just don't care. 'Beware' everyone said.

Horrible place very unprofessional and sketchy I would never leave anything here it seems like something here is not right like they get you to leave your stuff there and just take it cause they have no paperwork (rental agreement) no security and when asked about security all they did was avoid the question with "maybe there's a camera" something doesn't seem right at this business.
