Blue Water Medical Clinic

My 4th year UBC daughter has had a terrible time finding a family doctor in Vancouver and she really needs stable care. After receiving temporary medication from the walk-in psychiatry clinic at Vancouver General Hospital she was told to follow up with a GP. I helped her by searching for clinics taking new patients. Blue Water was accepting new patients but when she called they would only take her under the care of the nurse, despite this nurse having no experience in mental health care (one of the doctors at the clinic did). Still, she waited a couple of weeks to get an appointment and it was completely useless. There was not even an attempt to find out how they could help her. So she is left getting an emergency refill through the pharmacy and she plans to try a large walk in clinic, and hope eventually a good doctor will take her as a patient. Meanwhile we are paying $250 per hour for a private Ph.D. therapist to fill the gap for a lack of mental healthcare - but this is for support and some behavioral modification, not to correct the brain chemistry. I just think it is really irresponsible of doctors to be so apathetic when someone needs help. And when someone needs help they usually are not equipped to deal with an uphill battle to find themselves care.

The only problem is booking an appointment, if a patient doesn’t do emails say goodbye. I like Dr G. Very much since he was referred by Dr Albrecht, I’ve been seeing him . He is thorough and can feel his concerns to his patient but his system doesn’t seem to fit. Patient needed him that’s the only reason they’re calling not the machine’s telling you to go somewhere for help. If you are a patient with out the knowledge of new technologies say goodbye to your illness which I think don’t need 911 or ER. They are right to call 811. But psychologically it doesn’t make you feel better, I feel bad because I needed to see him and tell him how I feel and know what’s wrong. ..... where is compassion?

Very professional Nurses with a lot of knowledge, and a very nice and kind staff who can help you in whatever you need. A lot of respect to everyone in this clinic .

I got in as a new patient!!!!! Dr. looked young but I would like have one Doctor who is not that too old for the profession and competent when I say specific "millennial" things. I know there are other downside to this but I genuinely see that she likes to know people and their ailments. She doesn't just say "what do you want, what's wrong with you?" She like to say "hi how are you" instead of just fixing you with whatever knowledge she has. I like that she shows you how she researches. I hope that she has more research knowledge that I do. I liked that she said "I will see first your old records from your clinic before I will treat you specifically with anything. maybe they over looked something, so just to be sure." We talked about my pap test that was also long overdue. my old Dr's did not bother that i was 3 years over due for that woman-test. Receptionists, i like the Filipina. She was quick and polite even though she was on the phone a lot. She was the one who booked us in the moment there was an opening...she remembered which is very rare for a receptionist. -1 star because it seems that there's a disconnect between the receptionist and the Dr's. probably it will grow over time but I can always just remind them what the Dr needs from me or to schedule something else. Thanks BWM! Now I feel like I have finished my long journey of seeking my own family Dr.!
