Kootenay National Park Visitor Centre

Super friendly park staff and amazing mountain views. Beware, the only major highway to get into Kootenay is under construction and there are major delays going northbound. I waited over 1hr in the boiling heat on a motorcycle....

We had called this National Parks office located at Radium Hot Springs, B.C. An attendant naming herself Shauna took our call. What we both heard was POOR ATTITUDE: evasive responses to the most basic questions and her personal complaints about how SHORT STAFFED her office is. We patiently listened to her diatribe wondering why she was bitterly complaining and why such a POOR ATTITUDE. We were calling at an off-season time and had the most basic questions ! YIKES ! BE WARNED if you encounter this.

Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Full of information on this area, as well as far west to Vancouver Island and east into Alberta (Banff/Jasper/Calgary/Edmonton). Also available internet and telephone access.

Nice museum. The people were very helpful

After driving all the way from Banff Ntl Park without any information as to what the park has to offer (reqarding camping, day hiking, and natural sights to see) we went into the information center and they claimed to have no park information publications. All they had to offer was two commercially produced pieces of paper about two tourist towns (neither of which are in the park). BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. We will move on.
