Astoria Shish Kebob House - Danforth

Kabob was hard. Food was over priced. Overall disappointment. Grill calamari was good.

This restaurant has been my favourite for the past 30yrs and I always ordered the same thing every time lamb chops dinner and yesterday was a bit of a celebration and I wanted the same lamb chops dinner and because I do not live in the area uber/skip the dishes no one delivers as I'm not close enough which is not an issue as i wanted to support my favourite restaurant during this pandemic I ordered for pickup came home and I got beef instead of lamb receipt confirmed that I paid for lamb that may not be an issue for most people but I do not eat beef so I called to let them know and the gentleman who answered told me to hold on he will check came back and said it's not possible that I got beef instead of lamb?????? I explained how many years Ive been coming to this restaurant etc etc he took my name and number to call back which he never did I called the next day same gentleman said to me that he has been working their for 30yrs and he took the order and said at the time i placed the order there was no beef (i have no idea what that means) I'm not looking for compensation or a free mail it's disappointing that they took that approach with anyone and for me personally as a faithful long term customer. This is how a good restaurant gets a bad review not because of the food but because they refuse to admit or take responsibility for their actions and basically told me I do not know the difference between beef and lamb.

nice atmosphere, 2 patios, delicious food and good portions for what you pay. staff are very cordial and inviting.

It was my fav restaurant since 2018 until it wasn't in 2020!!! Tb fair the food is good but they were rude 2 times I went there! After finishing my workout I decided to have a meal over there! I didn't have a mask with me. I told one of the staff that I need to wash my hands before ordering food but have no masks with me and if it is possible can I have a mask to be able to go inside and use the washroom. He stated that no we don't provide masks and I can come another time!!!!! while I understand that they don't need to provide masks for customers, I expected some sort of flexibility for a returned customer !!!! Also, as a foodie person (fine food though ) I know this as a fact that other restaurants on Danforth nicely offer the clients a mask if they don't have one with them for any reasons . It was another time (1 month ago) I ordered food for takeout! The guy literally through the bag of food (in an aggressive way) on the table instead of politely put it on the table or hand it to me!!! I became so uncomfortable! I was like is he angry because I ordered only a sandwich or what!!!! Anyways, it is not my fav restaurant anymore! I found better options on Danforth!!! Boom!

Food is always good. Staff always friendly. The problem is the arrogance of a few waiters. Touching their mask always wearing it under their nose. Ruined 2 meals. Takes off mask to talk to people. Unnecessary. Also not making people wear masks to the table on the patio.
