Red Deer River North Campground

This campground is very underused. It's a bit of a hidden gem. 14 sites only. Managed by Red Rock Sawmills, booking it was very easy. We booked via phone/email. Booking is a must, as the gate is locked with a passcode otherwise. We were a group of 6 campsites and we were the only people in the campground. The guy who delivers the firewood said he had never seen this many people in the campground at the same time. LOTS of space in between sites. They are very spread out. Pit toilets. Non-potable water from a hand pump. The firewood is free. Access to the river via the pathways. No cell service available. Nearest place to get ice is Sunset Cafe which is about 5-7 up the road. There is a bit of truck noise as it's just off of highway 40, which is used as a logging road.

Very spacious sites. It is a great campground with lots of open areas. Worth every pennies.

$30 a night with no hookups but you are in the mountains. Free firewood. No potable water. There is a well but it is advised not to drink from it. Sites are clean. We will be camping here again.
