November 16, 2020 - I just spent three nights and four days in a ward AFTER major surgery at Lions Gate Hospital. The surgical team was first-rate and a great experience, but that's where the positive ended. I was assigned the smallest cubicle, right next to the toilet, in the 4-bed ward. My three British ward mates were the worst bunch of inconsiderate rednecks I have ever come across in such a small space. My three ward mates never once wore a face mask on their trips to the toilet, despite being in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and their faces were within 3 feet from mine. The 95-year-old war veteran talked to himself for 8 hours during the night. Unfortunately, his bed was next to mine. I turned around to catch him pulling my curtains apart so he could take a look at me with a toothless grin on his face. My second ward mate, a female, talked on the phone LOUDLY for an hour and a half. After that, she was visited by a non-stop male talker for about an hour. Two days in a row. My third ward mate had several long speaker-phone conversations, also two days in a row. He was trying to buy a jeep from his hospital bed. It was a nightmare of noise. My three ward mates were so loud that when my VCH assigned physiotherapist visited, she had to YELL instructions to me because my ward mates were yelling back and forth at each other. My ward mates thought it was great fun. I almost had a nervous breakdown. The nurses couldn't control it, but at one point, they wheeled the protesting 95-year-old war vet into the hallway for several hours, but eventually they wheeled him back in and the nightmare continued. My ward mates' inconsiderate behaviour destroyed what was supposed to be a bit of a convalescence. And then there was the nurse who woke me up to introduce herself as my nurse for the day. Parched and dehydrated, I asked her for a glass of water, but she told me she didn't have time and left. So I called her back. Again, she said she didn't have time and left. It took me over 2 hours and several calls to the nurses station to get a glass of water. I never saw her again. I asked for a new nurse. If you can, get a private room. Don't let your stay be ruined by jerks and a stay in a space the size of a coffin right next to the toilet.

They turned me away after I went in for panic attacks with extreme suicidal ideations seeking voluntary hospitalization. After waiting for 5 hours I was told to go home. A nurse said the ER environment should have helped get rid of my negative thoughts and I should be good to go, even though I said I was not and begged for help. They were not putting me in to see a psychiatrist. The psych nurse determined I was okay when I clearly was and am not. I told her, if I kill myself she has blood on her hands. She smiled and said "that's okay with me, I'll put it in your chart." I left in extreme distress and potentially risked covid exposure to be humiliated by the staff. Lionsgate, do better.

I spent the night there last night. Everyone was so so good to me. From the emts who got me thre to the triage staff and nurses and of course the doctors and residents. I was floored by who fast and friendly they all were and how much they got done in my time there. I had my heart checked, chest xray, blood taken. Then they decided to keep me over night to let me rest and have an iv drip. The night nurses were all so great to me and the one who gave me my covid swab deserves a raise for having to deal with the baby that I was when getting it done. BRAVO GIRL! The morning staff were just as great and made me feel so cared for. I fee thankful knowing that they are my local hospital 🏥 ❤

I took my daughter to get help here. There was other kids, same age, with same issue, and they all got help. The doctor came and spoke to them( I witnessed it)After few hours of waiting, I was send home without any help from a doctor for my daughter. The nurse talked down on me in the waiting area in front of everyone including my daughter. Other people before us didn't have an accent, so they got the help they needed and kept their integrity.

I was officer at 3rd floor, children section. I saw the way nurses servre people. Very nice, polite and hard working. They are true angels. Plus, super clean, lots of space for patients, good doctors and supporting staff. Like 5 star hotel.
