Nice place but one has to cover about 8+ Kms of dusty gravel road. Sworm of flies Screen tent and bugs spray is a must.

Quiet campground. Beautiful views. Remote enough without being difficult to get to. Sites are nice. Get one by the water if you can!

Beaver Mines Lake is inside Castle Provincial Park, a little less than 3 hours drive time from Calgary in the Pincher Creek/Waterton area. Its about as far as I'd want to drive for a few days of camping, but it is a very accessible site despite the distance. Cons for me were having to haul all our water and wood into camp, which precludes bringing just the car for a quick 2 nighter, as we burned through about 3 bags a day of firewood. But on the Pros side, the lake is clean and smells clean, bugs were very tolerable. The campsites were clean, large and secluded from one another so despite being full there was very little awareness of the other campers around us. The tent was a but difficult to stake on the rocky clay composite, but we managed it and with some underpadding it wasn't a big issue - but these campgrounds are built for RV's of some sort - I think we were the only ones tenting it. This is a clean, quiet, secluded getaway that I will definately visit again.

The lake seemed nice and there a lot of people fishing. The parking on the main road was asked so we had to park down by the lake. We came for the Table Mountain trail. I wasn't expecting an uphill climb and a cloud of mosquito's along the route and us without repellant.....😣 Made it up about halfway where the trail become more muddy than my liking. So typical city slickers we turned around and came back. Next time (if we return) we'll be better prepared to negotiate this hike.

Lots to do. Fun place to chill out. Staff could check and clean sites more.
