PROS: - Close to downtown -Close to trails -Bathrooms/amenities are clean CONS: - Half the shower/toilet stalls are out of order -I was provided with a site for my 17' trailer (as I advised on the phone) but the trailer didn't fit properly so I couldn't get up my stairs very well nor could I use my BBQ. -The site did not have room for my truck and even though no one was camping beside me, I had to park my truck several spaces away in designated parking -I was not provided with the bathroom code on check-in and then once I had begged it off of someone, I realized that they had just been changed in the middle of the evening... VERY inconvenient and then I had to track down the code again. -It's not very well indicated who is the campsite host so it's very difficult to get the needed information during 'closed hours'...

Location location location . This spot is 10 minutes walking from the city which makes it a great affordable place to stay when visiting Nelson. The staff I guess are city paid and some of them are not that friendly. Camp spots are right beside each other so this is NOT the place to go for a quiet night of sleep. It's supposed to be quiet after 10:30 pm but with all camp staff gone there really n one to police that. They could do so much more with this place but in the end it's still a cheap close place to crash when visiting Nelson. As a campground it's a 2 but because if location it's a 4.

Our stay here was okay. That said we wouldn't stay here again. It's right in town, which we didn't love but seems convenient if that's what you need. Really tight quarters, with only a few spaces that feel like they have some privacy. Tent platforms are up on the hillside and don't seem to have any space for cooking, good if all you're there for is to sleep. Only some drive in sites have picnic tables. It appeared a number of the sites required someone to be boxed in, which is less than convenient, and even though we were interested in some of those sites it felt awkward asking someone to move their whole setup so that we could get to our site. With staff hours limited it was quite confusing to see what sites were available and no help was offered from the onsite host to find a site. Upon selecting a site the host came over to drop off paperwork and told us to pay in the morning. Most campers here seemed to use it solely as their base to sleep at and ate out in town We looked at 3 other campsites in the area and honestly there were no good options as far we were concerned. I'd pick an airbnb/hotel or keep driving to another location. Really too bad as Nelson seems like a great town otherwise. The closest good option was the Kokanee Creek campground - but it seems overpriced compared to most other parks with the same amenities.

Campsite we were given was right at the busy street open for everybody to walk in and disturb us. No fence or a bush or anything. Decently communicated our safety concerns, but the staff was not able to help in any way. Very disappointing, never again.
