HUK-COBURG Versicherung Otmar Wagner in Trier - Trier-Nord

tldr; do not go here, especially if you are a foreigner. I bought a car about 6 months ago and went to HUK coburg especially because I was told that they were particularly good for taking insurance from other countries. I went to sign up for the insurance and was provisionally quoted ~200e per year for auto insurance, given that I had been driving for 10 years in the US without any accidents (which they wanted to ensure with my insurance). I was assured by a seemingly friendly associate that everything would be fine and I signed up. Of course they refused to recognize my previous driving experience and I received a bill for 700e per year for my insurance, TRIPLE what I was originally quoted when signing up. When I went to talk to them about this there was nothing to be done (of course) and I was not allowed to talk to the boss who supposedly could reverse it. I went back three times trying to talk to the boss, a Mr. Otmar, but he was never there. Finally I called to make an appointment with mr otmar but was told I could not, but also that I could come into the office now as he was there and available. I got there about 10 minutes later, at 1:30, and when I asked to talk to me Otmar I was told I could not, but that I could talk to basically the same people who had lied and refused to help me the last times. This person got angry and loud with me, like I was the one doing something wrong, and kept saying it is the law but when I asked him to explain exactly the law he refused to show me or explain anything beyond, 'it is the law'. he gave me a packet of the fine print which I had signed when I signed up and suggested I talk to the association of auto insurers of germany if I had any questions. I then said I will wait to speak to Mr. Otmar as I was told that he could help me. The guy made me wait over 2 hours to see him and when he came out he had a terrible attitude and even refused to shake my hand at the end. again, 'I am the doing the wrong' but.. no. sorry. look at the customers faces of the firm whom you will buy insurance from, they should not be sad or angry as they leave. unless they were signing up, everyone that went in there came out unhappy, that is no good friend. Insurance is a shady business already but this is extremely so. At some point i began asking the customers when I was waiting whether they had ever seen or talked to mr otmar, they all said no. is this the guy you want insurance from? whose henchmen lie to you and waste several hours of your time without compensation? Read the bylaws of the insurance it is terrible anyway, they only cover 250$ of towing fees, which is essentially an hour, so I hope you dont break down more than 30 minutes from your home, otherwise not covered. This is not a guy you want to be sponsoring. he came out wearing fancy clothes and he wants me on my tiny salary to pay triple the price because he determined he cannot accept my insurance history? do you see the type of guy this is? I hope so. I dont know that there are many better, but I do hope so. good luck

Regardless of which insurance area I have been given very good and competent advice and support for over a dozen years. Registration / re-registration, damage reports, etc. were processed quickly and continuously. thank you for the great cooperation

Can only report good things about the whole team, very friendly staff who provide professional and very competent help. Keep it up.

I have been here several times in 2017 and have been very well advised by Mr. Wagner. Apparently also young apprentices are trained here. The store seems to have been modernized in 2018. The parking situation in the Paulinstraße is rather bad (only parking spaces with vending machines), but you could park nearby at Aldi, if you buy something there).
