Refugio de Vida Silvestre La Chiquita

This refuge was established in the area where the “La Chiquita” Forest Station was operating, a site for research and management of forest species typical of the tropical forests of northwestern Ecuador. La Chiquita, whose name comes from an estuary that is within the area, has become a refuge for the flora and fauna of the sector. The main attraction of the area is the tropical humid forest of the Chocó region, an ecosystem with great biodiversity that begins in Panama, passes through Colombia and reaches the northern coasts of Ecuador.
