Área nacional de recreación Quimsacocha

Quimsacocha was, until 2012, part of a concession area for mining exploitation, but the Ministry of Environment recovered 3,217 ha of the 12,000 given in concession and declared them National Recreation Area in the sector known as Las Tres Lagunas. Without a doubt, an important recognition and action that highlights the main function and service of the moors for the human being: being water suppliers, and Quimsacocha, like the Cajas National Park, is one of the best testimonies. The two protected areas are part of the El Cajas Massif Biosphere Reserve.
