Beware, DO NOT RENT CARS WITH THIS AGENCY. They are a bunch of scammers who take advantage of you after you drop off your rental. I rented a car with Avis in San Sebastian to be dropped off on the same day in the Madrid Barajas airport agency. The drive from San Sebastian to Madrid was a non-stop drive without any incidents and when I got to Madrid, an agent inspected and received the car right beside me. The agent mentioned everything was fine and that I was going to receive my deposit in the coming days. Little did I know that a week after my rental, I was charged an additional $330 because supposedly the car had a scratch in one of the rear doors. This was a mere fraud from the agency, probably because they desperately need the money because of lack of tourism in the city. The car was inspected by their agent and the drive was a non-stop drive without any incidents. Literally impossible that there was any damage in the car... I repeatedly called and emailed customer service just to be ignored by their personnel.... Never again renting from Avis, this is no way to treat customers.

Terrible service. I've ordered car via Booking.com Lady in the office told me that I should cancel my reservation through Booking.com and make a new one with Avis directly. Then proceeded to threaten me with not covering any damage as quotation was from Booking.com and that AVIS doesn't cover damage even if I paid for Extra cover. Trying to get car from them is reminiscent of a shakedown. I've paid €57 to Booking and they wanted around €300 from me.

WARNING! Just noticed today that this company charged me $70 from my account without any prior communication. I had used them in Spain last October and just called the bank to investigate this, this comes 4 months after I used their services. Absolutely appalled by this company's behaviour. What about people that don't check their bank statements regularly. Incredible, can't believe they operate. Criminal behaviour, especially when I see the other reviews. DO NOT USE THEM!

I highly recommend you be careful with this company. I had used Avis in Madrid terminal 4 before and was happy with them. This year we came and had reservations booked for an Audi for my family of 4. However I had to make a last minute change because my sister and her daughter decided to join us on our trip. When we went for our vehicle upgrade we chose a van to fit us and our luggage. They charged us our fee and I paid for additional insurance. I chose the €1000 deductible and our salesman went through the agreement. Then he stated he was going to double check if we could get additional discounts, spent 10 minutes typing, and eventually went back to the agreement and pointed out a few points that he had already stated. I signed the agreement and a copy was emailed to me. The next day I went to check pricing online and realized including full insurance that I had been taken for more than twice what I could’ve paid online. I also found out that the deductible had been increased to €1692 on the agreement, a fact he never mentioned after his typing act. I had two daughters who were suffering from jet lag and I feel he took advantage of our exhaustion. Read and reread your agreement.

Currently 2 hours into the wait to pick up a car from this branch. There is at least 3 staff in Europcar, Hertz and Sixt, none of which have a queue. There is one staff for Avis and Budget. I thought when I booked with Avis that it would be quick, probably because it’s a big brand. So far looks like I would have been better off with anyone else!
