Please be aware and highly recommended to stay away from your worse service experience with Avis Barcelona Airport (T1) that you could ever imagine! It’s not a first time I’m facing extremely unprofessional and personal motives driven personnel at the avis desk, however today’s incident beat all the possible and imaginary expectations. I’m Avis preferred plus member (a step away from prestige level) booked and prepaid an entire booking directly via Avis website. However upon my arrival to the airport to pick-up a car that supposed to be prepared in advance, a desk lady (only available there) informed me that my reservation was cancelled by unknown reasons. I have been showing that in my Avis application, the car is ready for a pick-up, after that once she tried to “clarify” my prepaid reservation suddenly appear to be cancelled without any notification sent to me. Afterwords, I have requested to restore my reservation and its a clear mistake from Avis, however she refused to make another reservation for me, saying that I didn’t provide her with required documents. I have asked her one by one and put all the documents (passport, driving license, same credit card used for payment, other card used in the last reservation, valid residence card, current and last reservation with avis, emails, etc). She honestly confirmed that actually all require documents are available, despite that she will not restore my reservation! I proposed her to make another reservation for me and she refused to do so without giving any reasons for that, saying simply I will not do and will not give you a car. I have told that I will make another reservation online and asked if she will give a car to me in this case, however she told me NO without any further reasons for that, proposing to make a complain about this reservation and wished me good luck with this!! The last I have requested to reimburse my prepaid reservation cost, explaining this situation in details, however only respond I got is an attached email with return request without specifying any reasons why I have not received a car and what was a reasons behind. After all, I highly recommend to avoid renting with avis and be aware to face such unprofessional personnel providing services in the worldwide organisation, believing that giving a service to customer gives them right to terminate powers due to own personal simpatices or incline toward their personal interest at the working place. This is clearly a shame, however to my great disappointment remains a matter of fact in the progressive society declining a common freedom and protection of the human right that can be easy broken by any unscrupulous person at the service desk. Last but not least, dont be scared to share your disaster experienced with companies like avis barcelona airport in order to allow other be aware of those situation. Insane waiting lines first to sign up at the airport desktop (40min) and a second one again at the parking to pick up the car (20 minutes more). That's not very nice when just after landing in Barcelona from a long trip.

I took a car here in September 2019. The Renault Talisman ordered was not available, so they gave it an Audi A4. Not a bad replacement in principle ... There were already problems with this company in Italy when returning the car (they did not return the deposit in full, they did not explain anything in English, they started turning on the fool). In order this time not to give them the opportunity to spoil the impression of our vacation, I immediately paid a zero deductible.
