Tewodros Belay International Hotel

Great rooms, comfy beds, clean bathrooms, location is just right, not right in the city center and not to far either. Breakfast is basic and the supper, well we got fed but nothing to report about. We asked for some hot coffee or tea at supper time and it wasn't available, even thought the night was chilly. The driver to and fro the airport was interesting, though I wasn't sure he knew the fastest routes either, dived into an unnecessary and avoidable traffic jams twice.. I highly recommend the hotel but seek you meals in the nearby restaurants, better deal. Overall it's was great, very comfortable sleep over...

Miserable experience. Understaffed place & a very poor customer handling. I booked online & they had no idea abt it when I showed up. The location is so bad that u will feel like u r sleeping in a train station. & z gym ..they cheat u on that as well. You have to pay a monthly fee to use z gym even if u r staying at z suite but they won't tell u that before u pay. A one star is even too much for this place.

I write this review in sheer utter disbelief at the disappointing service and lack of attention to detail in all faucets of my experience at this hotel. As a former service worker myself, I am typically quite understanding at minor mishaps and typically ignore errors as it is part of the job. Nobody is perfect. I only hope that my complains don't fall on deaf ears, and management will take a serious look at what really goes on at this establishment. I arrived as part of the government mandated quarantine at this hotel. Right off the bat, I brought to the attention of the receptionists that my shower doesn't drain, and having it run for more than 5 minutes would result in the tub overflowing and consequently flooding the bathroom. Having travelled 18 hours to get to Addis, I was in desperate need of one, and was notified that a room would be prepared for me, only to be told a few hours later that this simple request cannot be accommodated and I would have to basically deal with it for that one night. 2 nights later, here I am in the same room with the same shower, still unbathed writing this review. Might I add that during this entire time, not once was I visited by room service to be offered even a clean towel, as the one I had been given at the beginning of my stay was already dirty after I cleaned the mess from the overflowing bath tub. No one came check if I needed essentials such as tooth paste or even toilet paper (that last item, I had to personally request from the kitchen attendant who was delivering my food). As for the food, it was quite tasty. That is, if the order was remembered to be placed. On 2 separate occasions (breakfast and lunch... on the same day), I ordered food to be delivered to my room (quarantine mandate requires that I can't leave my room for any purpose, nor can I order anything from outside the hotel). After an hour a half, I call to the restaurant to check on my meal only to realize that my order was never placed. On every call, I am told that they would check on my order and get back to me, and I have yet to receive a single call back from the restaurant to update me on the status of my meal. Oh, did I also mention that i would almost at all times have stacks of dirty dishes piled in the corner of my room that nobody ever bothered getting? Icing on the cake to this story is being told that I would have access to high speed internet, only to realize that internet speed in my room didn't even reach 1MBPS at its peak. I had called the hotel prior to arriving there to make sure that this was especially important to me, since my work requires that I have access to relatively decent internet speeds. Also considering the lack of good movie channels in Addis, I was looking forward to winding back and watching some youtube videos to entertain myself. That was not the case. This is my first time leaving a review for any establishment. I am really disappointed with my experience here and plan to never return. Edit: I was just denied transportation using the hotel's vehicle to another hotel.. after it has already been arranged. Cancellation happened last minute as we were almost out of the compound. This happened at the request of the owner himself. Take what you will from that.

Rooms are OK, meals were basic. The language barrier is a big problem.. "OK" seems to be the go to answer.. The place can do better with alittle more etiquette.

Very spacious rooms. Variety of food and excellent staff who give wake up calls. A bit distant from Bole International Airport though.
