Genfel Hotel ገንፈል ሆቴል

Stayed here twice as part of a tour. Rooms are clean comfortable and have good showers. The food is basic but good. The staff are friendly and helpful.

this is the firet hotel in our northern circuit tour where in the toilet worked perfectly (flushes every time), piping of toilet works (no leaks), heater works, bidet that's not too pressurized, no mosquitoes at night, good service and the ONLY place where WiFi worked while we were in bed, in our room. the bed is hard which is our preference. Overall, rrally good and clean hotel!

Nonprofessional and full of scam. the pushy management of this hotel keep insisting me to book my trip around Mekele with his friends tour agency even though I have told them many times that I have already booked my trip with another company Well latter I found out that it was a scam to get money out of me.

Worst place I have stayed after 3 months in Africa and 1 week in Ethiopia. Firstly the bed is a rock, the pillows have beeds in the middles in the place of filling. It’s 12:30am (international time) and there is music blasting fully loud from the adjacent building and drum beats. I went downstairs to see how late it would continue see if I could change rooms/ if anything could be done.. nothing! No one wants to deal with anything, also complete language barrier (no English, French or Spanish - which is all I could manage unfortunately). If I could give this place a 0 this is a severe warning - stay elsewhere!! I am leaving for a Danakil tour tomorrow on 0 sleep because of this horrendous place. In addition to the uncomfortable bed and pillow- the WiFi doesn’t work at all, the tv doesn’t really work, when I asked for a restaurant recommendation they tried to get me to pay someone to walk me there- weird scam... I have nothing positive to say about this place. I also suspect any positive review written by this place must be a scam.

Our room was nice; however, no pressure at the shower and lack of hot water in the evening. We also had a flooding at the shower which was later handled by the management. We couldn't sleep because of the terrible noise starting with 2am that has not been handled by management. The hotel has interior stair that makes all noise propagate all the way. Breakfast is normal and in our case was only ready at 8am, quite late giving that it should have started at 6:30. If you like silence better keep away.
