HAILE RESORT – ARBAMINCH

Quite possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had in Ethiopia. From the very beginning there were constant issues with the service. The dining room was constantly “out of a la carte items” and forced us to try and pay 450 birr for their crummy buffet of undercooked mediocre Ethiopian food. Their “recommended” tour guides tried to rip us off constantly. One showed up 30 min late and then tried to charge us double the price and then berated us outside the hotel for refusing to pay his inflated prices. The other took us to an “art gallery” where they wouldn’t let us leave until we gave them almost 2,000 birr. On New Years the music was so loud it shook our windows. The speaker was right below our balcony blasting terrible Ethiopian pop songs directly into our room. The manager seemed to have no idea why this was a problem and was constantly rude and disrespectful to us when we asked him to work with us to find a solution. He then lied to us about agreeing to end the party early so we were up very late with music so loud we couldn’t watch movies or even have a basic phone conversation without shouting. It took two hours of complaining to get him to even agree to turn the music down. My hat disappeared from the room after the cleaning staff came in. The front desk seemed utterly confused as to why that was a problem. This is supposedly the best location of the Haile Resort chain but if this is the best I shudder to think of what sort of nonsense goes on at the other locations. You can find cheaper and far less annoying places to stay elsewhere in Ethiopia. Skip this four star “resort”.

I recommend any body who want to go to Arba mich, Haile's Resort One of the best place to have vacation in Ethiopian. Superb spot, elegant and a peace of mind. get lost for a few day and you will never be regeret. Professional service from up to down and beyond. Fresh garden, has one of the best view to hang out on the balcony and breath the fresh air coming from the bottom of the hill, the forty spring and the life of Arba minch, which is the "amazon of Arbamench" staffed trees.

A great place to stay. Incredibly hospitable staff, very nice view, the rooms are exceptionally neat. I will have to come again to Arba Minch to have the same experience.

Amazing views, big and comfortable rooms, and delicious food. The staff is really friendly too. If I could rate them higher than a 5 I would!
