Heartless people with truly robotic style of work. Never pick up phones on time, never reply emails on time, very impolite. I’ve had many visa experiences in my life, this one is the worst. Never seen an attitude like this. Would never ever come to this country again because of this beautiful people who have no desire of doing their job well.

In late July 2020 I emailed the consulate in Paris because I wanted to apply for South African birth certificates and passports for my kids. Having read the other reviews here I was not optimistic...but six minutes after sending the email I received a reply from Patricia Journe, at the embassy, asking me to send her a self-addressed and stamped envelope so she could post the application forms to me. Within a week I had them. As we planned to visit Paris from our home in Lyon in early August, I asked Patricia if I could bring the forms in to the consulate, rather than post them, so I could be sure I had all the correct supporting documents. Patricia gave me a date and time and, together with my family, I met her at the consulate one morning. Twenty minutes later, she had gone through all the forms, and the applications were submitted. She could not have been more helpful. There was slight one hiccup - Patricia called me later that day to say one of the documents I submitted was not in the correct format, but fortunately I was able to order the right one online from the UK government. Patricia kept checking up with me by email until the document arrived last week, and the file could be sent to South Africa for processing. Thank you for the excellent service, Patricia.

I don't usually write reviews but it's impossible no to do it after the nightmare I experienced. It has been the worst administrative experience I've ever had in my life. I went to the embassy 19 times. I requested a tourist visa with multiple entries. I booked my trip to Zambia, Bostwana and South Africa. 30 minutes before the embassy closed and one day before my flight they gave me the visa with single entry. These people are really mean and terrible human beings. They tell you: "You have to change your flight". At any cost, if you can avoid going to this place do it. All the stress is not worth it. The men and the women that work there are incompetent and evil. Avoid the embassy and consulate.

Absolutely disgusted and ashamed to be South African. When I EVENTUALLY got through to the lady on the phone I told her I was relieved someone finally answered and she gave me a snarky response that she has been there all day. When I started asking my question she very sarcastically told me my problem is not hers and I must direct my problem (not inquiry mind, but my "problem") to the french consulate in South Africa. Extremely disappointed in my countrywoman. How dare you.
