We rang to book a table on a bank holiday lunch time great they could fit us in 👍, the only thing was we waited an hr for our food, there were plenty of spare tables so it wasn't buisy we couldn't work out why it took soooooo long to cook cajun chicken burger and chips x2 🤔 the food was OK though.

My friend and I walked in through the door and the bar tender, wearing a blue checked shirt, rudely shouted "I'm not serving you, get out!:" Confused, we asked why. He said there had been a fight with a gang of teenagers the night before and the police were involved. This was annoying as it was our first time visiting this pub and neither of us have ever been involved in a fight in our lives. Also, there were only two of us and not a 'gang' of teenagers. I'm sure if a 50 year old got into a fight there not all 50 year olds would be banned from going the following day. The way we were shouted at and told to simply get out was extremely rude and shouldn't be accepted. Please be polite to everyone and remember not every 18 year old wants to start a fight.

Food is good pub food. Would have given 5 stars but the staff can be a little slow. They only brought out 3 out of 4 desserts and then took another 5 minutes to bring out the last pudding but didn't provide any cutlery so nobody could get on and start eating! Otherwise it's ok but would be nice to see some of carpet etc as it is quite echoey and loud at times as a result.

The Ship is my mate's local. It's spit, it's sawdust, it's unpretentious. It's always got a decent crowd in it, and the screens are in the right places for sport. Haven't eaten here so couldn't comment on the food. Haven't drank pumped products here, so couldn't comment on the quality of the cellar (but the fact it's generally busy says the lines are well kept) It's everything a pub used to be before the gastro BS took over the world, and everything a pub should be.
