My Kerr ancestors lived on this croft, but were "cleared" abt 1810 by one of the Macmillans, who was the factor to the "improving" ?4th D of Hamilton. Ironically the Macmillans were cleared off too a few years later, but they ended up as the famous publishers and PM, whereas... There are lots of relevant graves in the Sannox kirkyard - I spit on the Macmillan ones once a year... The cottage was used by the Uni of Strathclyde Fisheries Research people in the 60s and 70s, to count the declining fish stocks in the Clyde estuary. They kept it in good repair, sleeping upstair and keeping their research kit doonstairs. Since then it has been let oot occasionally in the summer.

Sad to see the cottage in so poor state of repair. If I was lucky enough to live close by, I would love to bring it in to service as a bothy.
