Usually the receptionists here are lovely, but I had a disheartening experience today with one whose tone of voice/general attitude was less than gentle. I am not a difficult person, and received her message that no appointments with a doctor were bookable at the moment (best case 6th Jan onwards, assuming I ring back on 16th Dec in 4 days), gracefully and politely. There was irritation from her over a misunderstanding on my part with a date. I came off the phone feeling stupid, and as if I’d dared to ask for a huge favour, when all I’d needed was to be treated with courtesy and respect. After all, I was only phoning my doctor’s surgery for an appointment with a doctor.....
